Patalinjug, 56 years of age, as a government executive, initiated the donation of classroom chairs amounting to 1.2 million pesos following an on the spot poster-making contest. He was also instrumental in recognizing the teachers’ contribution to education through the PEZA Department of Education Awards which also commends deserving students. Along with these, he also spearheaded the donation of school classrooms at Ibo Elementary School with complete with facilities, and artesian well pumps to his fellow constituents.

For 31 years, he had served at Mactan Economic Zone, a government run facility attached to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority. Likewise, he was the former Division Chief of the Engineering and Maintenance Department from 2004 – 2015.

Tracing his records, he was then elected as the President of the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE) – Mactan Chapter for year 2003.

Because of these notable civic efforts, he was adjudged as one of the Ten Outstanding Cebuano Awardees (TOCA) in the field of Government Service last 15 August 2015.

Patalinjug is known to be from an eminent scion of elected public servants from both sides in which qualities of firm, responsible, and trustworthy servant leaders run in his blood.

He is the son of Mr. Pedro Veloso Patalinjug and Mrs. Venecia Lopez Querubin - Patalinjug. His paternal side speaks very much of leadership and public service as he is the nephew of the late Maximo Veloso Patalinjug, former Mayor of the same town from 1967 – 1986 and 1988 – 1991, a total of 23 years.

His maternal lineage, the illustrious Querubin clan, which originated from the Municipality of Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, northern province of Region I has been historically known in the fields of diplomacy and foreign services, military, judiciary, politics, and other fields which made their own name in the Republic.

In addition, he is the direct descendant of Don Pio Abugaday Querubin and Doňa Catalina Sampon. He is also the nephew of the late General Romulo Lopez Querubin, a trained jet pilot who made it to the famous Blue Diamonds, an elite group of Philippine Air Force jet fighter pilots. Later on, his uncle became the PAF 560th Wing Commander of Region VII and attained the peak of his military service when he was appointed the Vice Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force.  For the excellence he displayed for 30 years in the military service, he received 13 awards, including two (2) Bronze Leaf Awards and Silver Star Award.

His other renowned relatives are Don Tomas Querubin, merchant, shipping magnate, patriot, and elected Gobernadorcillo (Mayor) for two successive terms in Caoayan, Ilocos Sur during the Spanish era; Don Dimas Querubin, Capitan Municipal (Mayor) from 1897 -1899, Founder in 1911, and first Presidente Municipal (Mayor) from 1911 -1912; Don Felix dela Cruz Querubin, pre-war Mayor of Bacolod, Negros Occidental; Don Fidel dela Cruz Querubin, former Mayor of Ilagan, Isabela from 1945 – 1947; Don Apolinario Querubin, a revolutionary officer during the Filipino – American War, and delegate to the First Philippine Independence Congress, and; Col. Ariel Oliva Querubin who is acclaimed as the most bemedalled officer in the Philippine history, earning practically every award that the Armed Forces could give.

Patalinjug’s excellence in leadership and his spirit of service cannot only be attributed to his bloodline. Through his roots, his profession, and his experiences, he was able to develop the virtues of compassion and passion for public service exceptionally, with the willpower and the vision to do more for the community.
